Press, row, swing clubs, & swim–a simple approach to training while on vacation

I always recommend that people still train while they are on their vacation. Few however, heed that advice and pay for it big time when they return to the gym.

There are so many options for staying in shape while “on the road” that not training is inexcusable.

I trained throughout my vacation. It was great!

Unless you are at a funeral, there is no reason you can’t do some kind of productive training.

There is always bodyweight training you can do most anywhere. That in itself makes it ridiculous to skip training.

On the other hand, most hotels have some fitness equipment and a pool.

That is enough to get in some solid training.

Most people just sit by the pool but the dedicated ones swim laps. Why do think they paint the lines on the bottom of the pool anyhow?

Swim eight to  ten laps with short with very short rest periods and you’ll be feeling it the next day for sure.

Follow it up with some steel club  training, like this.

Hit the fitness center for chest presses and rows

Add in a steel club complex  like this

These are just a few of the possibilities you can use while traveling.
Be creative, don’t limit yourself.
Definitely don’t wait for perfect conditions or equipment!

Recap of our “Steel Drums, Steel Clubs, & Maces”

This past weekend our event was a huge success! I am actually on vacation right now, but since this was delayed due to my router going out on my computer the day it was supposed to be up I did it tonight. It will be my only post this week.

My thanks to everyone who attended and supported it! The photo below shows most of the folks present, a few had to leave before we took it.

My Coach, Don Giafardino, drove several hours in bad weather to come up to the Cave for this event.

Towards the end of the workshop  we held an “unofficial” competition with both steel clubs and mace events. There two different levels of competition.

We finished up with great Caribbean food along with steel drums and Reggae music.

Dewussifying our culture, one person at a time

I have often said that weakness invites aggression. In nature, the strong eat the weak and the fast eat the slow.

Why do people think they are exempt from this cycle of nature?

The “popular” culture is just the opposite. Excellence, winning, and being first are shunned.  The people are mainly soft, fat,  and weak, but many thinks that’s okay.

It is not okay!

I see young guys who can’t change a flat tire on their car. They don’t mow their own lawn. Manual labor is not even considered an option if they want some money.

A hard day’s work would probably kill them.

That is why I am thankful for the people who stand up and do something to reverse this mess. I network with some of the strongest people on the planet. They are strong mentally and physically.

They, like myself,  refuse to accept the status quo.

Coaches are in a unique place to make a difference for the better.

I commend every coach that stands up and says that being a wuss is unacceptable!

What type of athlete doesn’t need healthier shoulders?

How about stronger hands, wrists, & forearms?

Or maybe improved midline stabilization?

Let’s not forget coordination, okay?

I can’t think of any, can you? Steel clubs & maces can help in all those areas.

Join us this coming Saturday at 11:00am at the Cave and learn from my coach, Don Giafardino.
